This is Susan, I will be competing in the Miss California USA pageant this November 19 – 21st. My goal with entering the pageant is to make a difference in the future by bringing awareness to the issue of human trafficking and to encourage and motivate young people to achieve what they are truly capable of.

Human trafficking is not only something that you see in movies, but something that is happening all around us.  Most people have no idea, because they have their blinders on. There has to be a stop to what is going on.

I see a huge need in helping women and children escape human trafficking not only in third world countries, but right here in our own backyard.  People need to be aware of the facts. I ultimately want to put a stop to this and create an organization & rehab center to help these people get off of their forced addictions, and to help rebuild their lives to what they should be and help them reach their full potential. These people need our help. I am currently and will continue to be involved with current active organizations that are assisting with the needs and demands of this issue.

Along with assisting to put a stop to human trafficking, I have a passion for helping young people. I want to influence the youth of the future to become leaders in the community, get up and do more for themselves and others. Too many kids these day are dependent on their parents and or the government and have gotten lazy. Too many young people in our generation have had life to easy and have become selfish, they need to get some motivation to make a difference in their lives as well as others. I believe that even at my young age I am a motivator. Speaking from experience, since the age of thirteen, I have been assisting in real estate transactions. At the age of fifteen I became the youngest graduate at Woodcreek high school in Roseville, California. Currently, I am enrolled in my third year of college at California State University Sacramento with a concentration in international business. I have also learned to speak three languages. On November 12, 2009, I was awarded the title of Miss Russian California. That title had opened my eyes to many different possibilities and ideas. I believe that every opportunity is a steppingstone to something greater and I would like to pass that down and make people realize that they can achieve whatever they set their mind to.
